Compatibility with Restrict Content
Quote from cricri on June 16, 2020, 1:20 amHello,
Restrict ContentPro is, you guessed it, a WP Plugin that enables membership or content restrictions for non-registered users. Its documentation has a couple of pages explaining how to link it to bbforum, here: https://docs.restrictcontentpro.com/article/1619-bbpress-controlling-access-to-forums.
If you know of this plugin specifically, do you think it is possible to achieve the same using Asgaros, which looks a lot better than bbpress? I am asking Restrict Content too of course.
Failing that, could you please let me know whether the following can be achieved using Asgaros. My registration requirements are pretty innocuous: registration is free (it’s a site for college students where I will post lecture material, which I only want my students to have acess to). I want to do the same with the bulletin board. Restrict Content allows me to use student registration in my site to grant access to the bulletin board and provides other restriction functionality I don’t need. But I don’t need to get students to sign up both for the site registration and the bulletin board Resgistration on the site gives access to the bulletin board with the same credentials. How could I implement that using Asgaros if Restrict Content Pro is not compatible? I don’t mind using another plugin, or any other mechanism (I have never developed a site with a bulletin board so I have no idea what this involves).
Thank you for your comments and suggestions.
All the best. c.

if you want to use Restrict Content Pro for Asgaros Forum it’s only possible to restrict the whole forum. You simply have to activate the plugin, set a text that will be shown for a restriction and then set the restriction at the forum page (the page with the [forum] shortcode). with that the whole Forum is only available to the assigned group.
You can also use usergroups to achieve a similar behavior and it would be also possible to only restrict some specific categories to a usergroup. There is a good instruction how to set it up in the docs section:

I am just beginning to understand how this may work. I’ll read the docs to find out whether I can use usergroups to automatically enable Asgaros acess to users who register on the site.
