Emoticons & shortcodes parsed inside the editor when opening a post!

@ftp I just tried it with the same shortcode you have mentioned, see below:

Ok 🙁

Then I’ll have to try again to disable everything to find out where is the problem, because I still have the problem and it’s messing up every edit.

Thanks!

Found. It’s Elementor free version that’s parsing the shortcodes while opening a post for editing.
You can try.

And once again, it’s not having this behaviour in the admin editor.
Looks like WP & Elementor dev don’t really care testing the front-end editor :-/

I also can’t find any setting to disable this behaviour.
Elementor becoming very popular, it’s a real problem.

Tell me if you reproduce it and then we need to open 2 tickets: one on WP side and one on Elementor side as they mess-up the post editing in Asgaros and other extensions using the front-end editor probably 🙁

Yes, I can reproduce it and it seems in case the current page was built with the Elementor-editor then the shortcode is getting parsed.

Do you want me to open the tickets, or do you want to do it?

IMO it would have more weight if you do it and you would have the tracking but I can do it.

And do you have a quick workaround/fix for the shortcodes/Elementor issue?

No, I have no idea what kind of logic is causing this issue and Elementor is also very complex. I will open a ticket on the Elementor GitHub in the next few hours because I have some appointments during the day. If you open a ticket before, please let me know.

I think it’s better you open the tickets. You’re the author of one of the 3 best and most popular forums on WP, so you’ll have more weight. I’ll wait no pb, nothing critical anyway 😉

I just opened the ticket here:

BTW, thanks for identifying that if the forum was not in an Elementor page, the shortcodes were not parsed.
I rebuilt my forum page without Elementor and indeed, it fixed the issue.

Will you also open the ticket on WP side for the smilies?

Thanks!

Hello @ftp

Will you also open the ticket on WP side for the smilies?

Yes, but I want to create an example first which is more easier to setup to reproduce this issue.
