Topics and categories disappeared
Quote from stephane on January 18, 2019, 1:33 pmI run a discussion forum on a small website. However, the whole content (it wasn’t much mind you) disappeared. I see nothing in the back-office. However, everything is still stored in the database tables, because when I create a “test” category, I can still see the statistics at the bottom: 7 topics, 41 messages, etc.
My question : since everything is still there, how can I restore it? (I checked the FAQ section: I have no cache plugin installed on the site).
Thanks for your reply.

So you also dont see the content in the administration-area in Forum -> Structure?
Did this error happens after an update or just suddenly out of nowhere?
If you want you can send me a mail to administrator (at) asgaros.de so I can have a look. Maybe something went wrong during an update or it is an error caused by another extension.

Quote from stephane on January 18, 2019, 7:29 pmNo, indeed the back-office structure is blank as well. I’ll send you some credentials, I’d be grateful if you could take a look.

I got some mail in French which contained some confirmation-link. But it seems that it does not work. Can you send me another mail including login-name and password?

I could successfully log-in to your site now and have manually assigned the existing forums to a new category I created. All you have to do now is to change the name of it.
I dont know what happened to the initial category. Did you apply any backups or remove any data using some clean-up-tools? It seems that some data got lost from the terms-database-table which contained the category.

Quote from stephane on January 21, 2019, 12:00 amHello,
Thank you very much, everything came back. I discussed with my client, and yes, you’re right, he used a database cleaning tool. The one manoeuver he did was to use Wp-Sweep and clean the oEmbed Caches, which resulted in deleteing everything in the forum section. I’ll erase this plugin immediately to make sure he can’t use it again.
Thanks again !

Before using any clean-up and/or optimizing tools its always a good idea to make a backup.
However, if you want you can contact me via developer (at) thomasbelser.net. It should be possible to recover your contents directly within your database with a tool like phpMyAdmin. If you are not experienced with database-modifications, I can help you, but it can take one-two days because I am currently on vacation.

Quote from Frederique on March 30, 2019, 7:24 pmDon’t worry about that, I’m in a test project and want to be sure to set the forum without future issues.
Everything works perfectly otherwise, just this cache issue…
