Spent all day trying to get a captcha for the registration page

Same problem here, reCaptcha is not appearing in the forum.
I used v3 and entered the keys in forum -> reCAPTCHA
I also enabled for logged-in users

can anyone help? I realise there isn’t much going on here anymore but this is such an elementary issue – if not solved it makes the entire forum plug in worthless due to permanent spam attacks

If you don’t want to use the generic user login of WordPress you can basically use any other plugin like Ultimate Member to make a frontend login.
