There are times you want (all or some) forums to be public (e.g. for SEO reasons, for displaying ads to visitors etc), but users’ avatars protected for more privacy. I had to make many changes in the files to achieve this (unless someone uses css which is easier but not secure). Now a visitor sees the notice “Avatar protected” when visiting a topic instead of the avatar itself. I suggest to add it as an option.
