@veronica searching the forum on “InnoDB”,…

Hello @livi

No, there is no other reason than the one in the comment. During the installation of Asgaros Forum is set it to MyISAm to guarantee best compatibility for all server-configurations out there. If you are using a database-version which supports FULLTEXT indexes using InnoDB as an engine, you can change it without any problems.

Hello @leissagradas

One reason for this is the fulltext-search support. If you switch to another engine, the search-engine could be broken (based on the database-server configuration). So only switch if you really know what you do. Using MyISAM is not a problem at all.

Kind of mixed messages! And I don’t know what I’m doing… That second discussion also talked about some caching issue hiding posts.

Tom

The caching issue is different and has nothing to do with MyISAM or InnoDB.

Caching will circumvent updated posts i e not allow the Asgaros plugin to read recently new ot updated posts
which was the issue in the second thread.

Full-text indexes can be used only with MyISAM and Aria tables,
from MariaDB 10.0.5 with InnoDB tables
and from MariaDB 10.0.15 with Mroonga tables,
and can be created only for CHAR, VARCHAR, or TEXT columns.

@veronica thanks for all your guidance. I took the plunge and am now getting the Search results I was hoping for. Fantastic! And really so easy, when you know what to do.
