Please bring back the @ mentioning function
Quote from lucio7 on March 14, 2023, 11:38 amHey guys,
Feedback for improvement:
I think it was a bad idea to remove the “@” mentioning for those who aren’t admins or part of a thread.
In my forum for example we use to mention people when we know that the content is useful or interesting to that user.
Also, we have threads specifically for giving feedback or say “thank you” so that we can keep the original thread on topic.
All those functions are now not available anymore and… For what?
I’m not seeing many upsides on this change.
Also because it’s already possible for a user to disable the mentioning emails, so I see no benefit to this.
Thank you for listening :).

It is still possible to mention everyone. The only difference is that non-participants and non-moderators/administrators don’t appear within the suggestions anymore.
The main reason was the following: If your forum consists of thousands of users and you want to mention a user and started typing a name, the majority of the items within the suggestions list were users which are not relevant for the topic. The change is a trade-off between hiding dozens of unrelevant users (to find and select the correct one can take a while) and entering the name of a person which is not listed (which also takes time in terms of writing its full name).
