No Text visible

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Hi Thomas, hope all is well.  Loving the forum and the continued support!

Related to this topic, we discovered an issue when a member cuts a group of text information from, as an example, an email and paste it into the body of the post.  It is visible as black text until “Submit” is selected.  At that point the text appears to be black, almost invisible but it is there.  If you recall, I have my website colors set up in reverse so that the majority of the text is white and the back ground color is a very dark gray.  You can see it here:

With that said, if a member is typing in the body of the post, the text is black and the back ground is white as you would expect.  When “Submit” is selected, the text becomes white and the background color is a very dark gray as I have it selected.  This is all correct.  The problem only occurs if the text information is cut and pasted into the post.

Have you seen this issue before and is there a way to correct this problem?

In the meantime, a member has to change the color of the text to white in a text editor prior to pasting it into the body of the post.  The problem here is the member can not see the text to edit it if need be, but once it is submitted, the color of the text appears correct.   The text is white and the background color is a dark gray.  (In our hobby, cutting and pasting information is a common practice.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ron

Hello @ron-rollo

This is a common problem with WYSIWYG-editors (“What you see is what you get”) like tinyMCE. When you copy a test from another resource the style is often copied with it as well – depending on the source. You can reproduce this by copying formatted text from Word and sending it. I dont can and want to change this default behavior of the editor because this is a core-feature which is used in the backend-area for posts and in other plugins as well. So there are two possible ways to “fix” this:

  • I am not sure but there could be some WordPress plugins which allows you to disable this style-copy-behavior
  • Or: If you disable the “minimalistic editor” in the forum-settings you will find a “Clear formatting” button. When you select the text you have copied and press this button, all formatting will be removed from it – see the screenshot below. Maybe this is a good solution and you can notify your users about this so they can use this editor-functionality to clean up the formatting after pasting content from other sources.

Thank you Thomas, this should do the trick!  I will just let the guys know how to deal with this.  I was trying to replicate the problem and I was unable to do it on my computer and with a couple of the browsers that I regularly use.  But I have seen it on at least three occasions now.  Hopefully no more.

Again, thanks for the help!

Ron

Hello, wonder if this problem is not the same that I highlighted here : https://asgaros.com/support/topic/answer-to-a-thread-not-possible-to-see-what-we-type/

I’m using the latest version of asgaros and customizr pro as a theme.

if there is a problem with a plug-in, what kind of plug-in should I look in priority ?
