Thanks for your suggestions. Currently I thinking about some kind of status-saving functionality for this which basically means:

• You navigate to a certain topic and click “Merge”
• The ID of this topic is stored inside a cookie or somewhere else
• You navigate to another topic and click “Merge”
• Now those two topics are merged together

I think this way is the easiest to avoid typing some IDs, Slugs or searching for topics in an additional form.
