Bread crumbs
Quote from Erenbur on June 9, 2019, 8:04 pmThomas, hello! I have not written suggestions for improving the forum for a long time 🙂
The forum is part of a large site that uses its bread crumbs. It turns out not very beautiful. On the pages of the forum two bread crumbs. Like mine: https://erenbur.ru/discussion/topic/gazprom-tenbagger-v-dolgosrochnoy-perspektive
It would be necessary to combine the forum with the Yoast SEO and Breadcrumb NavXT plugins (the main plugins that allow you to implement breadcrumbs). Then you can turn off the breadcrumbs of the forum and use the main ones.
Alternatively, you can see the mechanism of bread crumbs in the plugin
https://wordpress.org/plugins/echo-knowledge-base
There in the settings there is a fairly convenient menu for editing bread crumbs.

Currently I have no plans to add integration for breadcrumb-plugins. In general, I want to avoid adding integration/compatibility-code for third-party plugins as much as possible to ensure that the plugin stays maintainable. Currently I only add compatibility-code in case the forum-plugin breaks an existing website in combination with another plugin.
However, maybe I can add this somewhere in the future, but it will become available as a custom standalone-addon which will be not directly included within the Asgaros Forum plugin.

Quote from Erenbur on June 12, 2019, 2:52 pmIt seems to me that on the contrary, you need to achieve maximum compatibility and interaction with other plugins. The world is changing, becoming digital and many systems are beginning to interact with each other, complementing and improving existing functions. WordPress is no exception. I see this trend in many plugins. They see each other and, depending on the installed plug-ins, change the logic of their work. Something like this 🙂
Thomas, think about this thought. Chief, of course, you. The final decision to take you.

Yes, I absolutely get your point. The problem is, that there are more than 50.000 plugins available for WordPress. Ensuring compatibility – even to only 1% – is almost impossible because the compatibility-code would be bigger than the forum-code itself. The maintanance would be also difficult because other plugins get updated regularly as well.
The question is also: Do I have to add compatibility-code for a breadcrumb-plugin or should the breadcrumb-plugin be compatible with the forum-plugin (other way around)? Another problem is: When both plugins start to add compatibility-code, the functionality can break again because two sides try to do the same.
I am evaluating the current situation and try to add compatibility-changes careful if its possible. So I cannot promise you anything, but I will do my best as always. 🙂

Quote from Erenbur on June 12, 2019, 7:36 pmThomas, it is not necessary to do compatibility with all 50,000 plugins. There are proven plug-ins that are included in the gold standard WordPress. These are for example Yoast SEO, WP-Optimize, Google XML Sitemaps. They need to maintain compatibility.
Now among the plugins of the forum there is a struggle for leadership. Your forum has every chance of becoming the best WordPress forum. But one of the conditions for entering this “gold standard” I consider compatibility with plug-ins, which are in the majority of users.

Quote from Erenbur on June 12, 2019, 8:03 pmI add, even from the “gold standard” you need to maintain compatibility with a small number of plug-ins. And, most often, once set up and forgotten. Something will have to redo very rarely. For example, a plugin that resulted in the first message maintains compatibility with Google XML Sitemaps:

If you want to speed-up the process for compatibility changes, you can also try to contact the developers of the breadcrumb-plugin. If they have an API available for plugin-developers, they can provide the necessary code-snippets which can be used by the forum to adjust the breadcrumbs.
If you want, you also can link them to my official developer-GitHub-account so they can contact me directly about those compatibility-issues:

Quote from Erenbur on June 13, 2019, 4:58 pmThomas, I’m unfortunately not a developer. I’m just a confident user who has made many useful suggestions to improve the work of the many plug-ins that I use on my sites.
Again, I offer ideas that (in my opinion) will be useful for many users of the plugin. But the final decision is natural for you.

Quote from Asgaros on June 13, 2019, 5:44 pmYes, you should not develop anything. 🙂 I just meant that you can contact the developers of the breadcrumb-plugin so that they can also have a look into the issue and contact me directly via GitHub so that we (me and the breadcrum-plugin developers) can try to find a way to improve compatibility between the two plugins.
As always: Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions!

Quote from Erenbur on June 14, 2019, 1:18 pmThomas, I understand your idea, I just never went to a GitHub and do not know how to contact the developers there 🙂 If I can offer something, I write directly on the support forum or on the email.
P.S. There will be many more offers :))) I used to be interested in creating a forum on phpbb, I would like to implement many interesting functions on Asgaros.
