What do you mean with the forum-settings break the website-interface?

For the color-settings there is actually a text-box which gets added by WordPress itself automatically (see image below). If its not there, then some other component is causing some issue.

I dont know if there is a specific option available to block translation-updates. I suggest you to ask in the WordPress support-forums, maybe someone has any idea for it. If there are some wrong translations, you can add updated ones here:

In which file are the user settings saved?
Manually change directly in the file.

WordPress and plugins save all user-settings in the database inside the wp_user* tables.

Только бекап базы сделать не забудь перед самым простым изменением. А то последствия могут сильно удивить 🙂

Добавлю, судя по вопросу, с MySQL работать не приходилось. Незнаючи лучше туда не лезть – можно сайт безвозвратно грохнуть.
