Visibility of forum by separate usergroups
Quote from timmitchell0705 on March 21, 2023, 10:15 amWe have two different usergroups with two different groups of forums and sub-forums on the one page. Currently the only option that seems available is to either make a forum 100% accessible, readable, visible and postable by a usergroup or not visible or accessible at all.
We want to be able to have one of the usergroups be able to see that the other forum exists and the sub forum names but not be able to read content in those forums.
We give members access to more advanced forums as they gain experience and knowledge but we don’t like the fact that the advanced forums can only be either totally hidden or totally accessible by a specific usergroup.
Is there a way to correct this issue? Can we make the title of a forum or sub-forum visible but not accessible on a per forum or per sub-forum basis? We may want to have one sub-forum title visible to all but accessible to only one usergroup, and other sub-forums in the same forum accessible to and visible to all usergroups.

Unfortunately I don’t see how this advanced use-case can be currently implemented with the existing usergroups functionality.

Quote from timmitchell0705 on March 27, 2023, 3:13 pmAnother thought.. would it be simple to apply the usergroup access option which is currently on forums to also be on sub forums? That way specific usergroups could have access to some sub forums but not other sub forums, and the parent forum is available to be accessed by all usergroups.. This would fix the issue that we are having without changing the use case functionality.

Currently the access can only be managed on the category-level. I will see if I can refine this in the future.
