Video Embed URL Problem

Hi all,

Im trying to embed the following video into a forum post.

It simply wont paste into my message text area. I get no errors.

I am simply trying to paste the full url, no tags or iframes.

I can copy normal text if it doesnt include a URL and I can add it as a link via the Insert/Edit link button.

I have Wordfence installed and I placed it back in learning mode – that didnt make any difference 🙁

I can paste video URLs into normal blog posts and they work just fine 🙂

Any ideas?

But regarding your issue, I can just tell you that it’s neither linked to Asgaros, nor to WordFence.
I have both installed on one forum and I can paste your Vimeo URL and then submit and view the video without any problem.

It must be linked to another plug-in or your theme.

Try to disable all plug-ins (except Asgaros) and see if it works.
If yes, then enable again your other plug-ins one by one and test after each new plug-in enabled to identify which one creates the problem.

And if it’s not a plug-in, try to go back to a Twenty Something default WordPress theme and see if it works.
I can tell you it works fine with OceanWP.

Sorry for the late reply! Unfortunately I am currently at a business trip so its a little bit difficult for me to handle all the support-requests.

As @ftp already mentioned the embedding should work fine. The mentioned JavaScript-error could be the troublemaker here. You can hover over the media-audiovideo.min.js file in the developer tools to get the path – which allows you to figure out to which plugin/theme it belongs to. Also try to disable the Autoptimize extension because it often can cause some errors.

Its the TinyMCE plugin that it belongs too.

Disabled Autoptimize too but with no luck 🙁

Hi all,

Still trying to resolve this. Now the video url will paste into the text area but it just appears as a hyperlink and wont embed.

Those messages are looking like warnings and should be fine. Can you double-check if the embedding-feature is not disabled in the forum-settings? Are you using other plugins which can cause this issue – for example security-extension which maybe disable embedding?

embeds are activated in the forum settings and embeds work fine in normal wp posts.

I do have WordFence installed?

It could be possible that certain security-plugins block embedding of other contents in specific areas. The only way to figure out if this plugin causes the issue is to disable it. 🙂
