Variables missing in e-mail notifications
Quote from Lou van Wijhe on January 22, 2020, 3:09 pmOur forum isn’t very active so the problem I encountered may be an older one, however I couldn’t find anything about it on the support forum. Here it is:
When a topic is started or a response is added, all subscribers do get a notification e-mail. However, only the fixed text from the template is in the e-mail and not the variables like ###author###, ###link###, etc. What could cause this? I use the latest software version.
Please help me out!
LouP.S.
The subject line on the e-mail is filled out correctly, but not the body.

I just saw that e-mails caused by mentioning a user do work, all placeholders are filled in correctly. Why not with new topics/answers?

Quote from Lou van Wijhe on January 30, 2020, 1:25 pmSome 2 years ago I added code supplied by @asgaros to my themes function.php file to remove the content text of a new post/topic from the notification. This change was asked for by @gbr in https://asgaros.com/support/topic/notification-content/.
I now wonder if this added code is causing the malfunction after some other software change. I also would like to know if @gbr is experiencing the same problem.
TIA for any tip!

I’ll wait some time for a response but lacking that I think I’ll take out the code added and see what happens. Hope I don’t break anything…

Quote from Lou van Wijhe on January 31, 2020, 2:37 pmI removed the extra code and everything is back to normal. This code isn’t needed anymore anyway because changes can be made directly in the notification template, like not mailing the content of a new message/answer.

I am sorry for the late reply! You are right, that code was causing this issue and is not required anymore in recent versions. I am happy that you could solve the problem by yourself already. 🙂
