"User registration is currently not allowed"

I am sure this is a stupid question so apologies in advance.

When anyone tries to register on the forum I have set up they get the message above. What do I need to change to allow registration to my site/forum?

Hello adhoc,

please go to your general WordPress settings and enable “Anyone can register”. 🙂

This was my same question. However, when I enabled “anyone can register” – the user also seems to have access to SOME (very few but some) of my website and admin abilities. I only want my students to access a particular page thats marked private/published.

I need them to be registered users though ONLY for the fact they need to subscribe to the forum/topics.

Hey Sandy,

yes, basically their user profile is accessible via the administration-area, but they dont have any access to any other functionality there at all. As long as the user has no additional privileges, they can only edit their own profile there. Nothing else. 🙂
