User registration
Quote from HarryZ on July 14, 2020, 5:28 amHello. I’m new here, and don’t have much experience with Asgaros Forum. I’ve been working with a “mentor”, but unfortunately he is now ill so I need to seek advice elsewhere. Hope this is the correct place.
I’d like to get Asgaros forums set up and working on my site. It is already installed and I’ve played with it a little bit. Where I need help is understanding the user registration. I’ve found where to turn on user registrations in WP, and see the default settings. But I have no idea how the various built-in to WP User roles relate to capabilities in the forum. e.g: will ‘Subscriber’ allow someone to logon to the forums, read, respond, add new posts, etc.? I’ve looked for this info online, but cannot find it. If someone could post a link to this information I would greatly appreciate it.

Asgaros Forum doesn’t use the user roles of WordPress, so every user is able to create topics and reply in the forum. If you want some restrictions within the Forum you can use the user groups: https://asgaros.com/docs/administration-guide/user-groups/
New users will become “Users” as Forum Role. You can change the roles for specific users in the WordPress Users section.
There also some settings for user permissions under: Forum -> Settings -> Permissions
@asgaros Please move this topic to the support section
