Urgent Issue
Quote from David Ortiz on March 26, 2023, 2:59 pmGreetings all,
First and foremost, I absolutely LOVE this plugin. It’s by FAR the easiest system I found to start a local HOA Community Board.
Everything was going perfect, I had categories setup with corresponding forums, when suddenly the most feared happened. I was locked out of my own WP Admin access. Every time I selected login, logout or register from the forum menu I kept receiving a “page not found error.” When I attempted to bypass the plugin and use mydomain/wp-admin again “page not found.” And so, I was locked out of my own system.
Lucky for me I was still logged in on my mac, so I disabled the following plugins:
- Plugin which allowed me to change the WP logo for a more customized look
- Plugin which allowed me to use standard editor as opposed to WP’s new block
I disabled all plugins one-by-one, went to my other computer and still no luck accessing my admin section, no luck logging off, registering, etc., still “page not found.”
As a result, I came back on my mac (which was still logged in to the admin panel) and disabled all plugins. Still nothing. Finally, I deleted this plugin, and reinstalled it and everything worked. Well, at least I was able to sign in admin panel and the register menu selection, login, logoff where all working.
And so, I was partially happy because it retained my categories and users, but all my work relative to the forums added under each category, and system configuration, GONE. 🙁
I was just about to donate to the development team of this product because it was that good. However, can you image had I started accepting members, several months or years of interacting, data, etc. and this were to happen again? It would be disastrous.
So being proactive, I have removed ALL plugins and only have the following installed (see attached), and ONLY ONE page. I should also point out I’m running this on a VPS with ample resources available.
In closing, is there a way this can be avoided. Also, adding a feature to backup all content data in the event such a disaster happens one can reinstall all forum content?
I’m attaching a screen capture of the only plugins I’m using and I only have one page for this product.
Please, I welcome your feedback, as I’m trying to make a major decision with this system to use for members of our community.
Best

That is sad to hear. Unfortunately, when you decide to uninstall Asgaros Forum, then it removes all data associated with it as well. Many plugins leave their data/trash behind when you uninstall them and this is something I want to avoid.
Did you have any backups in place for your site? Maybe you could contact your hosting provider which could help you to recover your website to a previous state.
