You can use multiple forums on the same sity if you use shortcode-parameters as described here to define which areas should be visible inside a specific instance:

https://asgaros.com/support/topic/extend-shortcode-to-show-specific-content-only/

If you just plan to make specific areas available for certain users only, I suggest you to use the usergroup-functionality.

Thanks for the speedy reply.  We want the content visible to all.  You may recall that we asked about making a link that took the user directly to a specific portion of the forum.  In our case our advertising sales guy wanted a top level menu item that would take users directly to the Classified section.  You gave us a solution that worked but SEO doesn’t recognize the resulting page URL “https://sidecar.com/680-2/” as classified ads so he’s still unhappy.  We are considering an entirely separate forum called “classifieds” as a potential solution.
