The Major Problems So far with this Plugin
Quote from Joe on May 5, 2019, 10:10 pmHi Thomas,
you are doing a great Job with this plugin but this plugin lack some very important features which is crucial to most user.
- Social Media sharing buttons – it is important that users can share interesting stuffs easily with their friends. Also, most times when a forum post is shared, it doesnt pick the post title, instead it only shows the main “/forum” post link even after deactivating SEO plugins.
- Backend Administration of posts and replies – It is much more convenient to manage new forum posts and replies from the backend,. there should be a backend admin page for forum posts and replies.
- Registration – I believe the forum registration can be improved, it should not just rely on the default WP registration form.. if a guest wants to reply to a topic, they should be able to register and get redirected to the forum topic they want to reply to. right now, users get taken to WP dashboard after signup, and not the page where they want to post comment or create a new topic.
- SEO compatibility – Any standard plugin in this era needs to support common SEO Plugins like Yoast, AIOSEO, SEOPress and co.. it is counter productive to disable SEO plugins just because I want to run a forum, it is not just worth it. This plugin should play nice with popular SEO plugins.
This is it for now. after spending a whole day on trying to configure and setup this plugin, I will the plugin is cool but the setup/code modifications stress is just too much.
I have to go hunting for a new plugin, hopefully when this plugin gets better, I would use it again.

First of all: Thank you for your feedback!
Social Media Sharing: I didnt implement this functionality because especially in Europe there a very strict laws regarding data-privacy. Adding multiple third-party-services to the forum can result in legal problems for the user if he does not configure everything correctly based on current laws. I will evaluate the situation and will decide, if I add such a functionality in the future. However, existing social-sharing plugins can easily get implemented by using the available hooks.
Backend Administration: I am not a big fan of implementing redundant functionalities. Basically all content and moderation-features can easily get accessed from the front-end based on the set-up structure. Adding the same to the backend is basically just a copy of something which just exist so currently I dont see any big benefit in adding this entire logic also to the administration-area. However, I will keep your suggestion in my mind.
Registration: Improvements to the login- and registration-system are planned for future updates.
SEO: Asgaros Forum has its own built-in SEO-functionality. There is no need to disable SEO-plugins completely – but its totally fine to disable them for the page only which contains the [forum]-shortcode. Why? Because Yoast and other plugins dont know the structure and functionality of Asgaros Forum so it is not able to set the correct meta-tags. Asgaros Forum takes care of SEO and generates all required meta-tags for every forum-area. It is also compatible with YoastSEO so that no special configuration for this plugin should be required.
If you have further suggestions, please let me know! 🙂
