Subscription Notifications Not Sending

Hello!

I’m testing out the forum on my site and when I subscribe to a topic I do not get email notifications for replies. I’ve tried it on both the admin and as a regular user and neither are receiving the notifications from each other. I have checked the box “Allow subscriptions (for logged-in users only)”. I also tested out the “Notify site owner about new topics” which works in sending notifications when there is a new topic. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Jacob,

I just tested it on my test-installation and everything is working fine. Can you ensure that the mail is not in your spam-folder?

Please also ensure that it is not an incompatibility with another plugin. To test this, you can try to disable other plugins for a short time for testing purposes and check if notifications are working again.

It looks like the WP Mail SMTP plugin is interfering with the emails being sent out. If it is activated it will not work, if it is deactivated it works, but Gmail cannot authenticate that it is not a spammer. Do you have any recommended plugins that will work for this?

Hello Jacob,

I dont use any of those plugins so unfortunately I cannot give you any recommendations for this kind of plugins. But you can try to contact the developer of the WP Mail SMTP-plugin. Maybe they can find a way to fix this issue when third-party plugins try to send mails via the wp_mail()-function.
