Stricter User Registration
Quote from joshjaks on January 2, 2019, 3:52 pmHey everyone,
I wonder if any of you have any methods of keeping user registration a bit more clean. I’ve noticed I get a lot of registrations that are clearly spam accounts. The good news is they never do anything to the forums. It’s like they figure out I exist and can register, but never figure out how to post on the forums.
I used a recaptcha plugin and that helped clear out a lot of the spam users/bots to my site. That said, I wondered if anyone found other ways to help clean out some of the spam users from constantly registering accounts. Once again, it isn’t a huge deal since none of the spammers/bots have done anything to post in my forums, but I’d like to keep my registered users to legit website users.
Thanks in advanced!

This problem you describe is a common issue on WordPress-installations on which users can create an account – so it is not directly related to Asgaros Forum itself because Asgaros Forum uses the user-management of WordPress.
I guess there are a few other plugins out there which can extend the functionality of the WordPress registration-process by adding additional verification-methods to the registration-process (mail-validation for example). I dont use any of those plugins so I cant give you any suggestion but maybe you can try to check out the plugin-repository.

Quote from joshjaks on January 2, 2019, 9:22 pmYeah, I’ll probably do a search like that eventually. I didn’t mean to imply it was the fault of Asgaros btw. I was hoping someone else who used the forums plugin might have found a good solution from previous experience. Maybe I’ll get lucky and someone will have something.
Regardless, I’m not getting spam postings though so I love that about Asgaros. If I find my own solution down the road, I’ll update here. =D
For now, I have to get all prepped and ready for CES!
