Some info requested about starting a new forum
Quote from don salmon on February 3, 2018, 8:07 pmHi, several folks I’m associated with are working on creating a new forum. I have a few questions:
- Does everyone have to go to the forum website in order to see new posts? Or can they sign up for notifications and do everything through their email inbox?
- In addition to the administrator, can a moderator of a forum or subforum enforce rules for that forum, for example (a) changing a poster’s status so that all posts have to be moderated; or (b) banning a poster without having to go through the administrator
- Is multi media allowed? can people post mp3 music files, mp4 videos, and/or photos?
Thank you so much.

- Users can subscribe to individual/all topics and/or forums (see the bottom-left area) to stay up-to-date about new content.
- An approve-functionality for topics/posts is not available yet but on my todo-list for a future update. Moderators can delete/edit/move topics/posts via the frontend. At the moment only administrators can ban users via the backend. But this is something which I could change in a future update.
- Yes! You can decide, which filetypes your users can upload and limit the number of files and their file-size as well via the settings. The links of popular platforms like YouTube can be pasted directly pasted into the editor and will embed its content automatically. Here is an example:

I just posted this elsewhere, but I thought it might help to add it here as well.
I just wanted to clarify one point. You wrote: “Users can subscribe to individual/all topics and/or forums (see the bottom-left area) to stay up-to-date about new content.”
So to make sure I understand:
- I subscribe to a forum.
- Someone creates a new topic, and I’m notified of that new topic.
I got that so far – here’s the thing:
If i haven’t done anything more than the initial subscription to the forum, will I get notifications of comments to the second as well as the first topic?
Thanks much for the help.

No, in this case you have to subscribe to the specific topics as well. But I plan to add a new option in the next update which allows you get notifications for all new posts/topics.
