Setting/changing user roles?

How do you set/change user roles in Asgaros? As shown in the screen shot, I have a user who is an Editor and Participant and yet Asgaros is showing him as a User. My desire to understand this better stems from wanting to create a private forum where I assume the way to do it is by controlling the private forum by only allowing access via a group.

Hello Rob,

at the moment the forum only distinguishes between:

  • guests
  • logged-in users, and
  • moderators/administrators

The WordPress core-roles are not relevant for the forum.

You can assign the moderator-role to a user in its WordPress backend-profile. It works the same for user groups which you have created (see the attached screenshot).

The structure-administration allows you to make forums/topics inside it only accessible for a defined forum-role (everyone, logged-in, moderators) and/or certain user groups.

Thanks Thomas.

I successfully created a private forum using the groups and actually really like the implementation. Again, very nice!

I don’t seem to be able to stop my basic members from having full moderation rights to the forum, even thought it is unticked 🙁

Hello jeni,

what do you mean with “full moderation rights”? Users are always able to edit their own posts. And site-administrators always have moderation-rights. Can normal users delete content in your forum?
