I can’t assure they haven’t clicked the “suscribe to this forum” link, BUT it is happening to several people at once: at least 5 people have written to me today, most of them were participants of one subforum and they are receiving notifications from a different one! They are complaining that these topics are not related to them, yet they are receiving notifications.

I have never had a complain like this before, and suddenly 5 of them in 24 hours. It makes me thing something must be wrong.

(I have asked all of them if they have suscribed to this forum by mistake, but none of them has answered to me for now).

Any clue? Thanks!

until now I could not reproduce this problem, but I got another report from a user here who seems to have the same problem. It would be nice if you could give me the following information about your configuration so maybe I can find a pattern:

Forum configuration:

• Notify site owner about new topics: Activated? (Yes/No)
• Allow subscriptions (for logged-in users only): Activated? (Yes/No)
• Allow guest postings: Activated? (Yes/No)

User profiles of the affected users:

• Forum Moderator: Activated? (Yes/No)
• Banned User: Activated? (Yes/No)
• Notify about new topics: Activated? (Yes/No)

What kind of mail they got:

• New topic? (Yes/No)
• New post? (Yes/No)

Who created that new topic/post:

• Guest
• Normal User
• Moderator
• Banned User
• Adminstrator

Where the new topic/post got created:

• Inside a normal forum
• Inside a subforum

Are there are some subscriptions:

• When the user got a mail about a new post:
  • Did he had a subscription for that topic?
  • Did he had a subscription for that forum where the topic is inside?
  • Did he had a subscription for the parent forum when the new topic is inside a subforum of it?
  • Did he had a subscription for one of the subforums of that forum when that forum has some?
• When the user got a mail about a new topic:
  • Did he had a subscription for that forum?
  • Did he had a subscription for the parent forum when the new topic is inside a subforum of it?
  • Did he had a subscription for one of the subforums of that forum when that forum has some?

You find this settings in the user profile of an user – near the bottom area. But you cant edit them if the user is also an administrator.

By the way: What is the user role of the affected users? They are all subscribers or also administrators?

That is unthinkable. I have more than 800. Is there not any other way to deactivate all notifications?

No. I just want to know if that notification-option is activated for the affected users so I can test this with those settings. Is this option active on all users???
