Posts will sometimes randomly disappear when trying to edit
Quote from jamesvgh on November 14, 2025, 8:07 amThis has been ongoing for some time now on my Wordpress site where posts and topics will at random (I cannot find a pattern) disappear entirely. This happens more commonly when attempting to edit. When clicking the edit link, the page will refresh and I will receive the error “Sorry, this post does not exist”. I will even check in the database table for wp_forum_posts or wp_forum_topics and confirm it does not exist in the database at all. For example I was editing several users posts and one post gave me the error when trying to edit it while none of the others did. I have tested out a variety of things, but I can’t quite seem to pinpoint what could be the cause of this. I am using the same caching plugin Breeze since the beginning of the use of Asgaros years ago on my site, but did not see this issue until the last year or so. I also do no cache any of the URLs that forums reside on just to ensure there would be no conflicts. I have checked my Wordpress error logs and my Apache server error logs, but nothing is noted around the time these incidents occur.
This is the typical error I get when it happens. Notice this post is #1486.
I checked the table for the post right after this happened, and sure enough it’s missing.
Any insight on this issue would be great. Thanks!

I don’t know if that helps, but you can try it.
Go to Settings › Permalinks and save them again according to your ideas.
It could be that something got mixed up.

I’ve actually done this a few times actually with no success. I could understand how the permalinks issue could potentially cause a problem with forum topics disappearing under the use a SEO-friendly structure, but I wouldn’t be able to understand why it would cause them to delete themselves from the database entirely (granted I’m no expert so someone would have to explain to me why that could happen if that is plausible).

Quote from jamesvgh on November 14, 2025, 4:26 pmI also want to make it known that this problem is unique to the forum. The issue has occurred under other user accounts. The issue is not exclusive to me. I have also not seen this issue anywhere else on my website. I have posts, products, tags, brands, categories, and a variety of other content stores in their own data tables. This problem appears to be isolated to the forums. The only pattern I have really observed is posts or topics disappearing when trying to edit them (it occurs at random). This may be a complex issue at this point.
