Posting new topics and replies seems very slow

I suggest you check out its configuration or contact your hosting-provider to have a look into it. There are also certain WordPress-plugins which can be used to configure how WordPress sends out notifications.

There are so many plugins available which makes it impossible to guarantee compatibility with every each of them. The only way to figure it out is to disable other plugins one by one for testing purposes until you find the one which is causing this issue.

Sorry about the delay in replying @asgaros (I was sick with “that” virus”). I have raised the issue of the delay with our hosting company, and am awaiting a response. We are currently using WP SMTP Mail to send notifications – are you aware of any particular problems with this plugin, or is there another plugin that you would recommend? Many thanks

In fact I know that some people have difficulties with the default mail-functionality of WordPress so they are using the same plugin which you are using as well without any problems. But at the end it always depends on the configuration and how web-server and mail-server can communicate.
