Nesting

Greetings.

Is there a way to nest replies? For example, person A replied to my post. But I would like to reply specifically to person A and have my comment nest (show as a branch) under their reply. Similar to how Reddit does it.

Thank you for the help 🙂

Hello @joh729

Nested comments are not planned for the moment because that would be mainly a commenting-functionality. Especially for big topics it would be impossible for users to follow a discussion when new answers are suddenly placed under a post a few pages before. If you want to respond to a certain post directly you can use the quoting and mentioning functionality to ensure that a user gets notified.

Well, it’s been 5 years since this topic. Has there been any additional thought on this? Threading is done virtually everywhere, so I don’t think it’s a readability issue any more.

I use the quote function…

Nur ein Biker weiß, warum ein Hund seinen Kopf aus einem Autofenster steckt.
Only a biker knows why a dog sticks its head out a car window.

Look for options related to threading or nesting of replies. This may be labeled as “Threaded Comments” or “Nested Replies”.
Enable this option to allow replies to be displayed as branches under parent comments. slope
