Is There a Javascript Problem?
Quote from jaylon on July 12, 2017, 10:29 pmAloha:
I have a user trying to leave comments on my forum but she’s having a heck of a time. She uses Safari, which I also use with no problem, but for some reason is unable to leave comments with that or Firefox. She writes:
“I finally was able to leave a comment. It worked when I turned off Java Script (Safari). The problem is, now I can’t view the videos or some of the other content [on the website]! Any ideas about this?
As for Firefox, could this be the problem?https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-drm?as=u&utm_source=inproduct#w_playing-drm-controlled-content-in-firefoxI am running Mac OS Sierra Version 10.12.5.”_________________Any help is much appreciated. I don’t know if this is relevant, but perhaps they are clashing plugins. I am using Wordfence and WP Hide and Security Enhancer.
Thanks again!

Quote from Asgaros on July 12, 2017, 10:37 pmHello jaylon,
videos and other content gets embedded via the official WordPress core oembed-implementation. When it is not working in the forum, it basically should also not working when pasting those links via the WordPress editor in normal WordPress pages/posts.
It could be possible that some optimizers/security plugins refactor some of the JavaScript code of my plugin, so a good first step would be to disable those plugins for a short time for testing purposes to figure out, if they are responsible for it. Another thing which happens often is that other plugins producing some strange JavaScript errors which prevents any other scripts from running as well.
Do you have Google Chrome (CTRL+SHIFT+J) or Firebug or any other “Developer Console” installed to check if there are some JavaScript errors while visiting the forum? If so, can you please post them here?

Quote from jaylon on July 12, 2017, 10:42 pmThanks for getting back so quickly. I don’t have video in the forum, she just meant that she couldn’t view video content on the website with java turned off. I’ll try the ol’ turning off other plugins trick. I don’t have a developer console installed.

Quote from jaylon on July 13, 2017, 2:00 amHaving spent most of my day on this, I’m now officially ready to yank out my hair. I can post just fine as an administrator, but users can’t post in any browser unless their java script is turned off. I’ve deactivated the plugins I thought might be causing a problem. Nothing’s worked.

Quote from jaylon on July 13, 2017, 8:53 amAlright, I can get it to work if I click “anyone can register” in the wordpress general membership setting. Problem is, this is a pay site. Do you have a workaround for that?
