GDPR and 'data portability'
Quote from Wouter Bruijning on August 29, 2018, 6:19 amHi Thomas,
First of all, thanks you for building and maintaining this plugin.
We are in the process of thinking of a forum on our website (we are a municipal organisation for social work). We are also pretty deep into GDPR. One of the things in GDPR is the so called data portability: the possibility for users to take their data to another application ‘in a standard and common format’. Whilst it is not very clear what ‘standard and common’ may be, we try to provide downloads from our applications that are used by our clients.
So my question is: have you thought about a way of downloading your data as a user of the forum? I guess for now a PDF of all personal posts would do (even though it doesn’t make sense, because it’s out of context when it’s just the personal posts). Another possibility could be that the full topic in which the user participated can be downloaded as a PDF, and user’s posts are clearly marked in the PDF.
Anyway, just some thoughts on complying to GDPR 😉
Thanks,
Wouter

an export is not available yet and also not planned for the very near future. One of the reasons is that a complete list of all topics/posts of a user is already available inside the “Post History” area inside an users Profile – see my Profiles Post History as an example.
