So you can have a main setting for all the categories to be visible, but hide some individually.

Yes, in the structure administration you can change the access-settings for categories again on an individual basis. I am glad to you could solve this issue already. Sorry for the late response!

I need usergroups, but all forum categories must be visible to all even noty logged in users.

In category the access is set to anybody.

I have a few usergroups which only must define who can add / edit a topic.

At the moment you can only define via usergroups who have access to certain categories so they are not displayed anymore to other users which are not a part of those groups. I plan to add individual permission/access rules in a future update but it will be not in the very near future.

Ok, I understand that if Usergroups are defined and at least 1 is checked (active) for a Category, this category is only visible for logged-in users with that usergroup(s) checked in their WP-profile.

For the moment I updated the code to show categories and topics when using usergroups even if not logged in.
