Few questions

Hello,

I’ve just found your Asgaros Forum plugin. I am very pleasantly surprised. I have a few questions:

1) Change avatar. Yes, I read your answers and I understand. What is standard in Joomla, in Wordpress is a nightmare 😀 The possibility of changing the avatars from the frontend in your forum would be a great help.

5 years old plugin “Simple Local Avatars” is not a solution for me. I use multisite and here registered users do not have permission to edit profile in backend.

2) Layout. Editing the layout is through css or php files?

3) Statistics. Registered users in multisite are not included in user statistics and online visitors statistics. Is it right? It would be possible to fix it?

4) Linking posts in Wordpress to this forum (replacing comments under post). Below the post insert a link with the number of comments (0 comments or 150 comments….). After clicking on this link, the site visitor will go to this discussion forum in a new thread.

There is no problem manually doing a new thread. But could it be done automatically after adding a new post to wordpress? And how do create comment counter below post with a link to a thread in the forum? Would it be possible? If I explained it wrong, I can send a link to some sites that have it similar.

Wordpress needs more similar plugins. Thumbs up! It great and I wish you good luck.

I look forward to your answer.

Regards, Jan

Hello Jan

  1. I know that avatars are really a problematic topic for a lot of people. Some people want to have the settings all-together in the backend. Other people use their own profile-management in the frontend. And the third group of people want that I integrate it into the forum-profiles. You see, everyone has another opinion about it and thats why I want to go the WordPress core-way at the moment which means: Adding the stuff to the area where WordPress allows you to change user-settings by default, which is the backend-profile area. So when I plan to add avatar-settings there one day, the chance is high that I will put it there.
  2. The layout can be changed via css-files. You can add own themes for your forum in the /wp-content/themes-asgarosforum directory (for example: /wp-content/themes-asgarosforum/my-theme). All themes in the /wp-content/themes-asgarosforum can be activated in the forum options. Each theme must have the following files: style.css, mobile.css, widgets.css and editor.css.
  3. I need to check this.
  4. There is an option called “Create topics for new blog posts in the following forum” since the last update which allows you to create new topics automatically for new blog posts. I think there should be some WordPress hooks available which allows you to add custom code to the end of posts. Via those it should be possible to generate some comment-counter with more or less lines of code.

I just checked the multisite-statistics and online-status. Everything seems to work fine on my test-installation.

Thank for your quick answers. To point 4, I will write a more detailed description. Today or tomorrow I will send him.

The option to edit the avatar would be a great help.

Third point (statistics in multisite). It does not work for me 🙁 Statistics do not include users in multisite: Network admin> Users. There are two lists of user accounts in the multisite. One for the network, this users are not in the statistics (online and total number of users). The second for individual sites in multisite. Without an invitation from administrator registration is not possible here. This is a problem because we only have users from the first list 🙂

But maybe I’m doing something wrong.
