Embed Videos
Quote from KnitWithHannah on March 31, 2017, 6:54 pmHi Everyone, I’m new here.
I would like to embed videos within posts. I can only see the option for photo embedding, is there a video option available within add-ons or the finer details of the settings. I tried adding the shortcode option, but, of course, I don’t know the finer details of the coding for this forum and have come across various types of coding for embedding videos.
As you can see from my website, knitwithhannah.co.uk videos are a big part of my online presence, so as well as adding posts and discussion topics to the forum I would like to embed videos, from Vimeo preferably within posts, then close the thread and have a discussion topic listed as a separate option.
Is the only option to add a link to the post and take members away from the forum to view the video elsewhere?
Many thanks,
Hannah

Normally when you paste the URL to a video, the video-player should automatically get embedded to your post. Which WordPress theme are you using? Maybe this or some other plugin is preventing the generation from it.

Quote from KnitWithHannah on April 5, 2017, 4:36 pmI’m using the ‘Kale’ theme, within WordPress.
I have been able to add links to videos, so directing to a different page on my website, or to YouTube, but not embed them in the forum post.
I have tried using the embedding link given from hosting sites such as vimeo and youtube… I will try it here, to see if it might be the theme that is causing the problem…
<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ug6P5UGqwJE” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>
I can see embedding option for images- is there just not the option for embedding videos?

Quote from Asgaros on April 6, 2017, 7:12 amHello again,
have you tried to copy and paste just the normal browser-link into the post? Dont copy and paste any HTML code, because this does not work.
Also dont forget to disable browser-plugins like NoScript because they avoid the generation of those embeds.

It didn’t like the YouTube share code, but the browser link—wowser!
thanks, great choice of video by the way 🙂

because this is a core-functionality and I dont want to deactivate it globally in my forum, you can have a look at this extension:
