E-Mail notification does not work for individual subscription
Quote from Matze_Streber on September 18, 2019, 3:32 pmHey everyone,
First of all: great plug-in, I am a huge fan.
I activated the subscription option yesterday, as one of my colleagues asked me for this feature. In the subscription menu, when I activate ‘all topics & posts’ the notification works perfectly fine. However, when I just want to subscribe to one individual forum and activate ‘individual subscription’ I do not get any e-mail notification.
As I read the whole afternoon lots of topics here, I already checked lots of things: One of my colleagues (P1) and I (P2, admin) subscribed to one forum. Another colleague (P3) posted a new topic in this forum. P1 and P2 does not get an e-mail notification. In case P1 and P2 select ‘all topics & posts’ in the subscription menu, we do get notifications.
I work with several forum categories, each combined with a certain user groups. My colleagues have the attributes of several user groups, but they only need to be notified in case a new topic is posted in one certain forum.
Please, help me… I am desperate 🙁

The result was the same as with wp mail. At least I did it via a google account in wp smtp and that works now perfect. There are a lot of instructions how to set up. But please dont ask me why that happens in this way 😉

Is it possible that those users got mentioned inside of the new topic? In this case, they only get one mail (that they got mentioned) and not a second one for the subscription.

@stefanwo: I use wp mail smtp and use our own smtp host mail server (I use the forum in our intranet wordpress installation).
@asgaros: the master himself! Thank you, I was hoping you were taking up this thread. Again, great plug-in. However, we do not use the option to mention each other currently. It seems that the individual notification does not work, the general notification (‘all topics & post’) does work. Is there any chance to debug this option in my installation? Or can I test something else? I don’t think that the smtp causing the problem, as I do get email notification. Just the individual notification is not working, but this is necessary for me as otherwise my colleagues will drown in mail notifications.

I tried to debug the issue and couldnt find any problem in the functionality. Can you double-check it with different test-users? Also ensure that the people who subscribed to the topic/forum have still access to it. Also keep in mind that you dont get notifications for your own posts/topics.
