Can't create any forums
Quote from Rhino on June 29, 2017, 5:23 pmHi!
I just installed the Asgaros plugin but I’m getting stuck when it comes to creating any forums. Based on these instructions:
- Download
Asgaros Forum
.- Upload the plugin files to the
/wp-content/plugins/asgaros-forum
directory or install the plugin directly via the WordPress plugins screen.- Activate the plugin via the
Plugins
screen in WordPress.- Create a new page for your forum, add the
[forum]
shortcode to it and save the page.- Add this page to your sites menu so you can access it.
- On the left side of the administration area you will find a new menu called
Forum
.- Configure your options and create the categories/forums there.
- Done!
I *think* I’ve done the first five steps correctly but Step 6 is giving me trouble. I’m not sure what you mean by “the administration area”. I *think* you must mean the dashboard but I’m not seeing any new options there at all, let alone something called “Forum” or “Asgaros”. I’ve looked in all the submenus of the items in the dashboard but there’s nothing that says “Forum” or “Asgaros”.
The Asgaros plugin appears to be installed and activated because it has a deactivate option. The page I created, called Forums, has the [forum] shortcode on it and the page has been published. The Forums page is on my menu. When I go to the website, I can see the Forums menu item and when I click on it, I get the Forums page but it just says “No forums yet”. That’s perfectly understandable because I haven’t created any yet. So how do I create them?

Quote from Rhino on June 29, 2017, 5:40 pmPlease disregard my question. “Forum” finally appeared on the dashboard and I’m creating forums successfully now.
I really don’t know why it took so long to appear; I checked everything several times over the course of more than an hour and it absolutely WAS NOT THERE. Then, suddenly, it was. (And yes, it was on the dashboard, not quite at the bottom, but definitely an area I checked several times.) I don’t know made it appear finally. That was really frustrating.
I’ve installed other plugins that added new entries to the dashboard, such as Easy Photo Portfolio, and those new entries all appeared immediately. I was expecting the same with Asgaros but, for whatever reason, that didn’t happen. Is this perhaps some small problem in the installation process? Anyway, I’m fine now but it would be a lot less frustrating for the next user if the Forum entry in the dashboard appeared immediately, not an hour or more afterwards.

I am not exactly sure why this happened. The only thing I can think of would be some kind of caching-issue. Maybe you have some other caching extensions enabled or your server-configuration is caching things for a period of time.
