Can I Require Admin Approval for New Users?
Quote from JohnStaples on June 26, 2024, 5:35 amIs there a setting where I can require admin approval before a new user can post anything? Something like this,
- new user registers on the forum
- they receive a confirmation informing them that their registration is pending approval
- an email is sent to admins that a registration is pending approval
- the new user cannot post anything, no new topics nor reply to existing ones, until an admin approves their registration
- after being approved they have normal access per the settings of the forum
If that cannot be done, could I possibly accomplish something similar by creating a single User Group and putting all of my forums inside that User Group? As I understand it, being added to a User Group is something an admin would need to do so maybe that could serve as the approval phase I need?
Or, would the plugin “New User Approve” (https://wordpress.org/plugins/new-user-approve/) work with Asgaros Forum?

Quote from JohnStaples on June 26, 2024, 6:10 amI am still curious if there is some built-in feature to do this but I can happily report that the free version of “New User Approve” (https://wordpress.org/plugins/new-user-approve/) works beautifully with Asgaros Forum! It is very effective and even provides the ability to send pre-approval codes if you wish. I’m pretty pleased with this!!

Asgaros Forum does not have its own login and registration logic, but uses the functionality of WordPress itself. Therefore you can use all guides and plugins for WordPress to set up your login and registration logic. To be honest, I don’t know of a solution for this, but I’m sure you can find hundreds of guides and plugins to make it work.
And if New User Approve seems to fit your needs, just give it a try. There should be no Problem with Asgaros Forum.

I do it in combination with Buddypress…
Edit:
Sorry, not quite.
The user registers.
He receives an email in which he must confirm his registration.
After that, he is a newbie.
As a newbie, he can only post in the introduction area.
Other areas such as viewing the member card or profiles are not visible to the newbie.
Only after an introduction and uploading an avatar is he promoted from newbie to member by an admin.
He then has access to all functions of our website as a member.
