Broken posts after 1.9 upgrade & switch to SSL
Quote from StephanK on May 27, 2018, 6:56 pmHi there,
been using Asgaros for quite a while now and never had the slightest problems with it.. Now, I did 2 things at once: I upgraded to version 1.9 and in the process also installed SSL encryption (to satisfy the DSGVO hysteria). Everything seem ok, today started with 2 forum posts not loading anymore. No error, just a page that isn’t loading properly.
The posts are shown in the latest post widget as well as the overview page. I’ve tried with and without SEo friendly URLS, i went to the permalinks section and saved it again (no changes though). No difference, Posts are still broken.
Here are links to the 2 posts that are broken:
https://drucktipps3d.de/forum/topic/capricorn-bowden-fuer-sigma-r17/?part=1#postid-6831
https://drucktipps3d.de/forum/topic/sigma-tuning-durch-neue-bowden-filamentschlaeuche/?part=2#postid-6830Strangely enough, if i open part 1 of the 2nd thread, that is still working:
https://drucktipps3d.de/forum/topic/sigma-tuning-durch-neue-bowden-filamentschlaeuche/?part=1 – so it seems as first post on 2nd part is the one thats causing it.There have been new posts since that are working fine.
I cannot figure this out.. any help would be appreciated.If there is any additional info that would help in diagnosing this, let me know and i’ll provide it.

a:1:{i:0;s:14:”Capricorn2.jpg”;}
looks legit, so maybe the file is corrupt or it’s something to do with the preview image routine?

Quote from StephanK on May 27, 2018, 7:58 pmOk, the picture that was causing the problems is gigantic in size. Though while file size is only 9meg as compressed jpg, its ~ 700meg uncompressed (16.8k x 12.6k pixel).
I bet it’s my shared webhost keeling over.. So, no bug in asgaros – sorry for the false report…

First of all: Sorry for the late reply! I am happy to hear that you could already fix the problem by your own.
Yes, big pictures can cause some problems especially when there are not enough resources available. The forum uses the default WordPress Core functionalities to generate preview-images – like the same which are used in the backends media library. It could be possible that it also has some troubles with big files. I am not sure about this, but in this case this should be something which have to be fixed in the core by the WordPress development team.
If you need to upload big images of that site you can try to disable the thumbnail-functionality in the forum-settings or but big images in a zip-file – in the last case there will be no thumbnail generated.
