The brand new version 1.4.0 of the Asgaros Forum plugin for WordPress comes with a lot of new features, changes, optimizations and bugfixes.

Who Is Online?

A lot of users requested it in the past, here it is: The Who Is online feature. Enabled by default, it highlights the avatars in topics of users who are online.

The number of members who are currently online is also shown inside the statistics area.

Multiple Instances & Shortcode Extensions

Version 1.4.0 allows you to extend the forum-shortcode with additional parameters. When this parameters are used, only specific content will be shown on a page. This is especially interesting for websites where different categories/forums should be shown for different usergroups or languages. The parameters can also be used to show specific topics or posts only. An explanation on how to use it can be found here: Extend shortcode to show specific content only.

In order to use this feature more easily, the IDs of forums and categories are now shown inside the administration-area.

Hide breadcrumbs

A new option in the administration-area allows you to hide breadcrumbs in your forums.

More intuitive editor workflow

When open an editor to create new posts or topics, the buttons for adding new posts or topics get removed to make the editor-workflow more intuitive. An additional Cancel buttons allows you to close the editor again.

Statistics in the mobile view

The statistics area is now also shown when visiting the forum-overview with a mobile device.

Search Engine Optimizations for Breadcrumbs

With the help of Yworld we could make some huge SEO improvements to the generated breadcrumbs.

Additional changes

• Categories get sorted correctly now in the forum-overview
• Stylesheets and Scripts are now only loaded at the forum-page
• Wrong labels in the forum-configuration have been fixed
• The pagination is now also shown under the search results
• The full breadcrumbs are now displayed when moving topics
• The structure of the forum-configuration got slightly changed
• Fixed display issues with some themes
• Minor changes to design

And as always: There are a lot of performance optimizations, unnecessary SQL-queries got removed and improvements to the code have been applied to make Asgaros Forum faster than before!
