All registered wordpress users receive emails about new topics
Quote from crps@outlook.de on January 18, 2018, 10:59 pmWe just have created the asgaros forum to our site but for every new topic ALL our registered wordpress users receive a notification. This is absolutely not intended, because just if someone adds a subscription for any forum he should receive notifications.
We cannot add anymore topics and articles as long as we can stop those notifications.
Any idea or hint is appreciated.

here are a couple of questions which should help me to reproduce this error:
- Can you confirm somehow that really all users got notifications about new topics or just a couple of them?
- Does this also happen for new posts?
- Can you check if the “Notify about new topics”-option in their backend-profiles is not enabled?
- Which user-roles (administrator, normal-users, etc) are affected by this problem?
- Which user-role has the person who created a new topic for which all users get notifications?

Quote from crps@outlook.de on January 20, 2018, 8:24 pm-I cannot confirm that all of them have received them, but we have received a feedback of 50% of our users about the unwanted notifications.
-Thats our problem, that all users are notificated about any new post. We are manually migrating our old forum to asgaros and have to add any post manually.
-I cannot find thsi option in the backend, the is just an option to “inform the site owner about new topics” and to “allow subscriptions”. Please can you tell me which option it is? Even with changing to “English” I cannot find this options you have mentioned.
-we just have normal users / contributors and administrators – the standard roles from wordpress, there are no user groups in asgaros.
-the post creator has an adminsitratoion role.
We have checked the user profiles. Because we just have added the asgaros plugin the new asgaros fields in profile are not filled.

So they get notifications for new posts? Or for new topics? Or for both?
I cannot find thsi option in the backend
Check the attached screenshot for the location.
Have you also tried to disable other plugins for testing purposes? Maybe its an incompatibility.

Your mentioned option is in the profile. As I said there are no entries because this plugin is just installed and no one has changed his profile. But on the other hand I could not change hundreds of profiles just for this option.
we don’t have other plugins with notification functions.

Quote from Asgaros on January 21, 2018, 10:39 amOkay, thanks for the information. Some other questions about your configuration:
- Have you set some access-restrictions to categories like “logged-in only/moderators” or are they set to “everyone”?
- Are you using user-groups and have you assigned some of them to your categories?

Quote from Asgaros on January 26, 2018, 5:22 pmI really did a lot of checks the last days but I could not reproduce this. During this checks I made a couple of optimizations to the notifications-logic and simplified some error-validation-checks. There could be a chance that this fix this bug, but I cannot guarantee it. Can you please replace your current version of the plugin with this development-version and give me some feedback after it? It should be stable to use because this includes only minor-changes.
If this does not fix the problem, it can be only an incompatibility with another plugin – even when you dont use any plugins with notification-functionalities. Maybe something modifies the query-generation or filters its results.
