Adding new users

Hi,

I am a new user to Asgaros so may well be doing something stupid, but I cannot log in with any new users I create.  I have set up my new forum and intend to operate this with only one forum and topic as I intend to use this for some accessibility testing with blind users and need to make this as simple as possible.  So far I can’t test it for accessibility myself as I can’t successfully add any test users.  This is what I’ve done:

  1. created a category
  2. created a forum
  3. created a usergroup
  4. so far so good and I can use this as an admin
  5. I then add a new user to a test email
  6. I receive a notification email.
    1. This contains two links… why not just one?  Which one should be used
    2. Can I customise this notification email?
  7. I test both links in an incognito browser
    1. both of them take me to a Wordpress login with one.com (hosts of my wordpress installation) and not to my new site
    2. both of them fail to recognise the new user and I cannot login

Are there other places I need to check and configure to improve this experience so I am never taken to one.com, and also so that logging in with the credentials I set up work?

Thanks for any advice!!

Paul.

Hi Paul,

If your language is German, please let me know, because then it will be easier for me and I won’t have to answer with my poor English.

What is in the backend under Settings › General

under

WordPress address (URL) and website address (URL) in it?

Maybe it’s because the URL of your forum isn’t there.

Hi Biker,

I’m a native English speaker…. also with poor English so you’re in good company!  But feel free to use German if that’s easier for you.

I have this url in both fields: https://accessibility.filkin.com

I have tested with a colleague this afternoon in case the problem was with me, but she also gets taken through the one.com login and the password that was created when I added her doesn’t get to her so she has to use the forgotten password link immediately… also not a great experience and I really can’t have blind users being sent around the houses.

In fact I think I found a solution that works better.  I installed the usersWP plugin and within a few mins was able to make this work exactly as needed… automagically!

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
